Let me show you the conclusion firstly.

The fundamental reason for the decline of the newspaper industry is that the delivery model has changed and newspapers have not kept up with this change. How did this happened?

In the past, newspapers were monopolistic media, and advertisers were interested in their unique channel, readers are also need a resource of news. So both readers and advertisers were interested in newspaper.

After the development of the Internet, the disadvantages of newspaper, or papers, were shown, it is slow, heavy, more expensive. And internet websites are instantaneous, charge-free, no weight, and watch it or not, when to watch it, that depends on you, you don’t need to waiting for newsboy. So the newspapers lost favor at the same time also lost a lot of income.

With the net Internet website gradually into people's lives, accepted by the public, the network seems to carry the mainstream information of this era, whether from the traditional media or now the things known as media convergence, they have crossed from the former paper media to the current full media.

For example, New York times, used to be a traditional newspaper media, a lot of important news of America will be published by them, but now they have variety types of media: blogs, Youtube channel, twitter, website, application and so on.

The transformation of traditional media to the present is slowly transformed step by step with the needs of social development, in order to make the public accept, let the news become interesting, become more receptive, the media has made a huge change, although the traditional media communication channels is gradually change, but the final unchanged is the content contained in the news. Maybe many people believe that the decline of the traditional newspaper industry is the inevitable result of the digital age. But I believe that newspapers are only a carrier of quality content. And the decline of the paper media is more of an advantage; we have reduced the consumption of large amounts of paper, which means less forest resources. As technology advances, quality content will be presented to the public through screens. The transformation of traditional newspapers to e-newspapers is a typical example of media convergence. As a journalist, what remains the same is the attitude of responsibility to the public for every piece of news.
